Industrial Machine Relocation & Wiring
Moving a machine across the plant floor is mostly a wiring job. Something has to de-energize and lock it out, disconnect and label the power and control conductors, run new feeders to the new position, land the disconnect and prove the rotation before it turns again. We plan it against your shutdown window, so the machine goes down and comes back inside the time you have.

How a move is sequenced
- Survey before anything movesWe photograph and label every connection, record the nameplate data and note what the machine shares with its neighbors before a single conductor comes off.
- New position prepared firstFeeders, conduit, disconnect and any control interfaces are in place at the new spot while the machine is still running at the old one.
- Lockout and disconnectThe machine is isolated, locked out and disconnected, with control wiring bagged and tagged so it goes back exactly as it came off.
- Reconnect and proveLand the conductors, check rotation, verify the controls and the safety interlocks, then run it unloaded before handing it back to production.
What we need from you
- The shutdown window, and whether it is a weekend or a single shift
- Nameplate data and, where it exists, the machine wiring diagram
- Who is doing the rigging, so the electrical work lands around it
- Any safety interlocks tied to guards, gates or neighboring equipment
- Whether the new position needs a longer feeder than the old one carried
Reconfiguring a whole line
Moving one machine is rarely the whole job. When a line is re-laid out, the feeders, the lighting above it and the receptacles around it move too, and the panel that fed the old arrangement may sit nowhere sensible for the new one. We map the whole floor before the first machine comes off its pad.
Frequently asked questions
How long is a machine out of service during a move?
The disconnect and reconnect is usually hours rather than days, because the new feeders are in place before the machine moves. Rigging and mechanical setting normally take longer than the wiring.
Do you handle the rigging as well?
No. We handle the electrical disconnect, the new feeders and the reconnection, and we work alongside your riggers so that neither trade holds up the other.
What happens to the old feeder and disconnect?
They are made safe, then either removed or left dead and labelled if the position may be used again. We do not leave a live orphan circuit in the floor.
Can a machine be moved without stopping production?
The preparation can be done while you run. The disconnect, move and reconnect need the machine down, which is why we schedule them into a shutdown, a weekend or a shift change.
Does the machine need a new disconnect at the new location?
It needs a disconnect within sight of it, so unless the old one travels with it, yes. That is planned into the new feeder run from the start.
